Fort Wayne Youth Concert Orchestra
The Fort Wayne Youth Concert Orchestra is an intermediate-level orchestra for talented young musicians in northeast Indiana and western Ohio who want to explore and gain large-ensemble experience. The Youth Concert Orchestra is comprised of 50 musicians and is open to all qualified instrumentalists who have not graduated from high school. Members are selected annually by audition in May.
The Youth Concert Orchestra rehearses early evenings Sunday at Indiana University - Purdue University Fort Wayne.

Auditions Information for the 2011/12 season:

Audition dates for the 2011/12 session have passed.
Audition Requirements:
Auditions are approximately 8 minutes long and consist of the following activities:
Scales: 1 each, major and minor (any form) in 1-2 octaves. Quarter note = 60. Good tone and intonation is the goal.Solo: Up to 2 minutes in length, without accompaniment. This should demonstrate your finest playing.Excerpt: Download excerpts from the media section on the right. Note: Disregard stated tempo marking of quarter note = 160. Listen to a recording and choose a respectable tempo marking that you feel comfortable playing. Woodwinds and brass have the option to play the excerpt down an octave if need be. If you want to be accepted for either orchestra please prepare both excerpts so we can better judge your ability.Sight Reading: There may be a brief sight-reading piece.
