A native of Interlochen, Michigan, he graduated from the Interlochen Arts Academy. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and a Bachelor of Music in French Horn Performance from Southern Methodist University; a Master of Music in French Horn Performance from Indiana University; and a Master of Science in Historic Preservation from Ball State University. He is the Historic Preservation Specialist for ARCH, Inc. While at ARCH, he has authored four volumes of the Indiana Historic Sites and Structures Inventory. These comprehensively cover the historic architecture of Steuben, LaGrange, Wells and Adams Counties. An upcoming volume on Allen County’s historic architecture will be a four-year project. He is also the co-author of the National Historic Landmark nomination for the Pinsiwa (Chief Richardville) House. In addition to his work in northeast Indiana, he serves on statewide committees for historic bridges, and for modern architecture in Indiana. Galbraith and his wife, Janet, have two daughters, Cate and Elly.
