Aaron Butler joined the Fort Wayne Philharmonic as Director of Education
in December 2007. He is responsible for the overall development and
execution of all education programs at the Philharmonic. Prior to this
position, Aaron taught English as a Foreign Language (EFL) in Japan
through the Japanese Exchange and Teaching Programme and wrote and
edited the publication Planet Eigo: Down to Earth Team Teaching, a
handbook for EFL teachers in Japan, which was recognized by the Daily
Yomiuri as an “English-teaching bible for participants in the Japan
Exchange and Teaching (JET) Programme” (March 13, 2008).
Aaron is
also a former corps member of the Teacher For America program where he
taught English and Social Studies in New York City. He holds a Master of
Business Administration at Indiana University, a Master of Science in
Teaching degree from Pace University, and a Bachelor of Music degree
from The University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada.
